“When I was living in New York, I was staying up in Ithaca, NY, away from home, alone. In fact, the whole town was kind of dead because it was a college town during Christmas.
It was a snowy day and I thought, ‘I just gotta go to the gym, do something, because I’m going stir-crazy.’ There was a snow storm outside, so I went outside, and couldn’t drive the car because the parking lot was covered in snow. So I decided, ‘I’m gonna catch the bus.’
It was snowing really hard. I went up into the street and stood there, waiting for the bus to come. I probably stood there for about half an hour, 45 minutes, waiting for the bus, and it just never showed up. Nothing crossed by. And I think, at that point, for some reason, it hit me – what was I waiting for?!
Within that half an hour, I probably could have walked down the road and just got to the gym myself. In the bigger picture, that’s what I was doing all my life, just waiting. Waiting for the bus to come, and pick me up rather than getting on my two feet and just walking it myself if I needed to.
I think that’s where a lot of people find themselves, they’re just waiting for a right opportunity. They’re waiting, waiting, waiting, but they’re not taking any action. You have to take action in order to create the opportunity that will come to you. You gotta think positively but you also gotta take positive action.”
