“We need to unify our generations. ‘Bridge the gap’ between the younger generation and the older generation, the children and the Kupuna, the haves and the have nots. We need to bring everyone together collectively to make a difference in our community for the people and also for the land.
The land is hurting, and we continue to see development here in Hawaii taking away from the various resources that we used to have. To see that saddens me, but again, that’s why raising your voice, raising awareness, is important. Those things unfortunately happen, and people need to know about it.
That’s one of the reasons why we chose to do HI000, to tell some stories that weren’t necessarily being told, and to give exposure to those who just go about doing these things on a daily basis. We wanted to shout them out and let them know that, ‘Hey, we hear you, we feel you, we’re following you.’ We wanna let them know what you’re doing is a great thing, and I really feel that alone is a great thing in itself.”
